Baked Apples

Ingredients:

4 large baking apples, preferably Rome Beauty
(Golden delicious, or Jonagold are also good)

¾ tsp cinnamon

¾ tsp freshly ground nutmeg

¼ cup chopped walnuts

¼ cup raisins or currants

1 cup boiling water

 Directions:

Preheat oven 375°F

• Wash and dry the apples, using a sharp knife, apple corer or melon baller cut
out the cores, leaving the bottom ½ inch apples intact.

• Put the apples in a baking dish and stuff each apple with walnuts and raisins,
try not to overpack.

• Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the tops of each apple.

• Pour boiling water into bottom of baking dish, bake for 30-45 minutes.
About 20 minutes into baking, baste apples with the juices from the pan, pouring
over the tops of each apples. Baste again, once apples come out of the oven.
Apples are done, once they are cooked through and tender, but not overcooked
and mushy.

• Serve warm, with the juices from the bottom of pan, or refrigerate apples
and eat cold.
